The new outlet of the Grands-Malades site ready for the next migration

All the solutions selected were deployed on the first pilot site. They will be tested in 2021 to measure their overall effectiveness.
With the completion of the fish outlet and behavioral barriers, Luminus and its partners aim to significantly reduce the impacts on silver eels and salmon smolts. The former will be redirected towards the dam and the latter through the recently constructed outlet. Migrating fish will thus avoid passing through hydroelectric installations.
Functional testing of the new behavioral barrier for smolts combined with the outlet will take place in March weather permitting.
